Architectural Precision meets Berber Tradition
Discover the sophisticated, graphic world of our Zanafi rug collection. Originating from the Ouarzazate region of the High Atlas, Zanafi rugs are the "architectural" cousins of the Moroccan rug world. Unlike the plush shag of a Beni Ourain, a Zanafi is a masterwork of flat-weave technique, characterized by intricate, high-contrast geometric patterns and a refined, low-profile silhouette.
Why Choose a Zanafi Rug?
- Graphic Geometric Mastery: Zanafi rugs are defined by their bold use of zigzag lines, large-scale diamonds, and sawtooth borders that create a striking visual rhythm.
-
The "Kharita" Technique: These rugs utilize a complex weaving method that produces a dense, durable flat-weave, making them highly resilient for modern living.
-
Monochromatic Versatility: While they often feature a classic charcoal and ivory or sand and white palette, their clean lines make them a favorite for industrial, mid-century modern, and minimalist homes.
-
Reversible Beauty: Due to the precise nature of the flat-weave, many Zanafi rugs are nearly reversible, offering two sides of artisanal texture.
Zanafi Care & Maintenance
The Zanafi flat-weave is one of the most durable Moroccan styles, making it remarkably easy to maintain:
-
Weekly Maintenance: Use a suction-only vacuum or a broom to easily sweep away dust and debris from the flat surface.
-
Low Profile Advantage: Because they lack a high pile, these rugs do not trap allergens or pet hair as easily as shaggy rugs.
-
Spill Resistance: The tight weave prevents liquids from sinking in immediately; blot spills quickly with a clean cloth to prevent staining.
-
Sturdy Structure: These rugs sit flush to the floor, meaning they rarely require a heavy rug pad to prevent bunching.
